Crack/Crevices/Fissures Sealing

A crack can appear in any shape or size, but once it appears, the first signs cannot be dismissed, and its origin should be thoroughly investigated to make sure it can be eliminated for good. Otherwise, cracks will keep reappearing.

When a building is new, soil consolidation, which leads to building settlement, is typically the cause of cracks in the main/external walls. Vibrations caused by nature or man may also play a role.

It is likely that external-wall cracks will appear small and insignificant when first they occur, and they will not compromise the building's integrity or stability. However, if left untreated, they will spread, cause bigger problems, and cause more damage over time, due to the weather conditions, specifically humidity and water. Cracks can, however, be sealed properly to prevent more serious problems.

Expert engineers at Edil Technology can examine cracks, provide a preliminary assessment of the building's health, provide recommendations on the most appropriate and affordable solutions, and determine the most effective work process and how to effectively intervene, all of which saves time and money.

As a result of our double/half rope safety systems, our operators can perform immediate interventions without being delayed by scaffolding, and no matter how small or large the crack is or where it is located (low or high altitudes).

10.1. Crack/crevices/fissures Sealing services:

10.1.1. Preliminary works:

Make sure all cracks are identified and located.

Removing the plaster from the cracks and cleaning the area around them is the next step.

10.1.2. Pilot Treatment:

Cracks should be sealed with the right products, such as elastomeric paint.

10.1.3. Full Treatment:

The treatment should be applied to all cracks.

10.1.4. Finish:

Ensure that the mesh is reinforced if necessary.

Fill the cracks with ready-mix thixotropic and fibre-reinforced mortar.

Use a Siloxane-based paint.
